  Was moving my son and his young family from Penrith to the Sunshine Coast and was hoping to have left at 5am. But the truck I was to drive was not completed and we ended up 8hours late. My wife and I had never driven past Newcastle so it … More was a big venture for all of us. Low on fuel and deciding to find a place to stay, we stopped off at Kempsey and could not find suitable two room accommodation, checking on six establishments. Getting late, we headed to Macksville and found the Mandarin, late at night. Concerned for the security of the truck, the owner came out, and backed me down a secure driveway. While my wife and I got settled, my son and family turned up also needing a secure park and he too, was guided into an area where we could see both vehicles from our rooms. Very comfortable beds, spacious rooms and large clean bathrooms. We met together in the restaurant in the morning for a huge, cooked breakfast. Thank you for taking us in so late at night, and helping us keep our loads in a secure area. Macksville, and the Mandarin, have been shared amongst our family and friends as a saviour for people that were lost yet made welcome in desperate conditions. Thank you.

  Aircon switch is next to the main door. Can switch is far away from the bed and the fan isn’t exactly where it should be.
  Also it would be good if there is a quality body wash placed in the bathroom. Not the reject shop
  one please.

  Our first stay at the Mandarin and know this motel will be our go to again. The host Mei Ling was very welcoming and helpful. Our room was spacious and very clean. Location is fabulous a short walk to several great choices for dinner. We dined at the Macksville Hotel. Had the Thursday night special Surf and Turf. Steak cooked exactly as requested with seafood topper - delicious food and lovely atmosphere.

  it’s not often you walk in a hotel and you know it was looked after with love, but Mandarin was just one of these places where despite it being probably almost 20 years old, you can just tell the owners really cared for it and looked after … More it.
  It felt comfortable and nice and it brings joy to our family to just stay there, and I promise you I don’t say this easily!
  It felt clean, and it felt pleasant.
  I never really been to Macksville before and I will totally come back just to stay at Mandarin again!

  Meiling and Jason are wonderful hosts. Meiling was so helpful. Their motel is nice and quiet, fastidiously well kept and the room I was offered … More had wide, roll flat door way into a large room with a roll flat shower (with detachable hose head) with a shower chair and mat provided. Handrails are provided for the shower and toilet, they are very sturdy and secure. On par with a hospital bathroom.
  There's a reasonable high bench to roll under in one corner of the main room. The room itself has a trapezoid layout which in short makes using a walker or chair indoors a breeze as the foot and right side of the bed have much more room than a normal motel room maneuver in. The room also has undercover disabled parking right beside the door.
  All the other facilities supplied were of a high standard, there was a minibar and selection of snacks with a menu for prices. There is also a 24 hour fuel station on the next road over which can be accessed on foot through the local library carpark across the road and about 50 meters south. There's some mowed grass and a few kerbs to negotiate. There's a couple of small supermarkets and cafes nearby too.

The only recommendation I have is for coasters to be provided for hot drinks. A great location as it was close to our destination and not too far away from the beach. I would recommend this place of stay highly to family and friends.
